Dr Thor Strandenæs appointed Professor of Theology of Mission
In the meeting of the Board of the MHS School of Mission and Theology Wednesday September 17, Dr Thor Strandenæs was appointed Professor of Theology of Mission.
Dr Strandenæs has a broad scholarly background, with a particular focus on hermeneutical principles in bible translation, contextual hymnology and liturgy, in addition to contributions in biblical studies.
Dr Strandenæs did his theological studies at the MHS School of Mission and Theology and did postgraduate studies for his Ph.D in Uppsala. He has worked as a missionary and seminary lecturer in Hong Kong, and has in recent years been attached to the MHS School of Mission and Theology as an Associate Professor and also as its Rector from 1999 to 2003.
The studies at MHS have been very useful. In my present job at the Police office in Stavanger I daily meet people from different parts of the world. I took both a bachelor and a master degree at MHS. I feel that my background has helped me a lot in my job in the Police.
