School of Mission and Theology (MHS) announces: A permanent position as Professor or Associate Professor in Theology of Mission

MHS has two permanent academic positions in Theology of Mission, and one is now vacant and open for application at the level of Professor or Associate Professor. As a core theological discipline, Theology of Mission works critically and normatively from systematic-theological perspectives – and interacts closely with historical and biblical research issues – in relation to the global missional calling of the church.

The position is responsible for teaching and tuition on all levels (Bachelor, Master’s and Ph.D.) in relation to MHS’ study programmes; for a survey cf. "study programmes". There may be changes as far as study programmes are concerned, and the position may be given additional administrative work.

Applicants are expected to identify with MHS’ basic values (cf. Fundaments) and visions (cf. Plan of Strategy). MHS generally prioritizes a research profile that relates to the school’s tradition and strategy. Further, importance is attached to scholarly networking and entrepreneurship, pedagogical abilities and a co-operative attitude. MHS also emphasizes relevant work experience from mission, church and society, and the need for a balance of age and gender in the department as well as in the faculty as a whole. Applicants are expected to be able to communicate well in a Scandinavian language.

The studies at MHS have been very useful. In my present job at the Police office in Stavanger I daily meet people from different parts of the world. I took both a bachelor and a master degree at MHS. I feel that my background has helped me a lot in my job in the Police.
