Important book from MHS' researchers

Recently, the book Culture, Religion, and the Reintegration of Female Child Soldiers in Northern Uganda, ed. Bård Mæland (New York: Peter Lang) was published as part of a NUFU-supported research project that has taken place at MHS -School of Mission and Theology, in cooperation with Makerere University.

International conference on the missionary speeches in the Acts of the Apostles

On Wednesday and Thursday, 19 - 20 May, an international conference on the missionary speeches in the Acts of the Apostles took place at the School of Mission and Theology in Stavanger, Norway. Scholars from India, Egypt, Romania, Germany and Norway took part at the conference.

New Rector

On Monday March 1, Professor Bård Mæland takes over as Rector of the MHS School of Mission and Theology after Professor Knut Holter. This will be given attention during the Monday Eucharist Service in the MHS Aula at 11.05, and with some program in the MHS Canteen afterwards.

Karl Ludvig Reichelt Memorial Lecture 2009

Karl Ludvig Reichelt Memorial Lecture 2009 was held in the MHS aula on Tuesday, December 8th.  The lecture was given by Associate Professor Ole Bjørn Rongen and the topic was "In the Beginning was TAO. Interpreting and communicating Confucius and Laozi - the two great Wise Men of China".  Ole Bjørn Rongen is a sinologist and journalist. He is Associate Professor of journalism at the Institute of Media, Culture and Social Science at the University of Stavanger.

“Mission in Zululand”- Report from a research conference

The South African history is so dramatic. Historians are taking part in ongoing processes where past events are re-interpreted and history rewritten. Debates on history in South Africa are not restricted to theoretical discussions by scholars alone, the debates concerns everyone. Kristin Fjelde Tjelle, PhD-student at MHS, has just arrived from South Africa where she together with Professor Odd Magne Bakke participated at the conference "Mission in Zululand".
