Recently, the book Culture, Religion, and the Reintegration of Female Child Soldiers in Northern Uganda, ed. Bård Mæland (New York: Peter Lang) was published as part of a NUFU-supported research project that has taken place at MHS -School of Mission and Theology, in cooperation with Makerere University.

On Wednesday and Thursday, 19 - 20 May, an international conference on the missionary speeches in the Acts of the Apostles took place at the School of Mission and Theology in Stavanger, Norway. Scholars from India, Egypt, Romania, Germany and Norway took part at the conference.

On Monday March 1, Professor Bård Mæland takes over as Rector of the MHS School of Mission and Theology after Professor Knut Holter. This will be given attention during the Monday Eucharist Service in the MHS Aula at 11.05, and with some program in the MHS Canteen afterwards.

Karl Ludvig Reichelt Memorial Lecture 2009 was held in the MHS aula on Tuesday, December 8th.  The lecture was given by Associate Professor Ole Bjørn Rongen and the topic was "In the Beginning was TAO. Interpreting and communicating Confucius and Laozi - the two great Wise Men of China".  Ole Bjørn Rongen is a sinologist and journalist. He is Associate Professor of journalism at the Institute of Media, Culture and Social Science at the University of Stavanger.

The South African history is so dramatic. Historians are taking part in ongoing processes where past events are re-interpreted and history rewritten. Debates on history in South Africa are not restricted to theoretical discussions by scholars alone, the debates concerns everyone. Kristin Fjelde Tjelle, PhD-student at MHS, has just arrived from South Africa where she together with Professor Odd Magne Bakke participated at the conference "Mission in Zululand".

Was modern Christian mission to Africa primarily a colonial project and a civilizing mission or was it a spiritual revival spreading to new areas? Associate Professor Tomas S. Drønen has recently published a book on Brill.

School of Mission and Theology, togehter with Makerere University, Uganda arranged in October 2009 a conferense with the topic "Living Together". Here we present some few photos from the conference.

The School of Mission and Theology (MHS) has for the period of 2008-2012 established three interdisciplinary research groups in order to focus the research at the school on three key areas.

This is to announce that the annual Dr. Karl Ludvig Reichelt Memorial Lectures and Study Day of the School of Mission and Theology will be held on Wednesday December 3, 2008.

The venue of the Study Day (0830-1100) is Room 224.

The venue of the Memorial Lectures (1200-1530) is the MHS Aula.

In the meeting of the Board of the MHS School of Mission and Theology Wednesday September 17, Dr Thor Strandenæs was appointed Professor of Theology of Mission.

The Revd Professor John Barton, MA, DPhil, DLitt (Hon DrTheol Bonn). Oriel and Laing Professor of the interpretation of Holy Scripturen, Oxford University, visits MHS 17.-18. September 2008.

Tora Aasland, Cabinet Minister of Research and Higher Education, visited the MHS School of Mission and Theology Monday 18. August, as part of a program celebrating the accreditation of MHS as a specialized university.

Dr Kjell Nordstokke - presently serving as Director, Department for Mission and Development, Lutheran World Federation, Geneva - has been appointed Adjunct Professor of Mission and Diaconia Studies, MHS School of Mission and Theology.
