Doctoral thesis about mission history in Cameroon
Tomas Sundnes Drønen sucessfully defended his PhD thesis at School of Mission and Theology 14 August 2007. Parts of the material for thesis was found in NMS Archives. The printed version also includes selected photos from the archives.
Tomas Sundnes Drønen gjorde et vellykket forsvar av sin PhD avhandling ved Misjonshøgskolen 14. August 2007. Deler av materialet for avhandlingen er funnet i NMS Arkiv. Den trykte utgaven inneholder også utvalgte fotos fra vårt arkiv.
The cover of the thesis.[ Click for larger version ]The thesis is entitled "Communication, conversion and conservation : the Dii meet the Norwegian Missionaries: Northern Cameroon 1934-60".
According to the resumé "the thesis asks the simple, yet complicated question: Why did a large part of the Dii people in northern Cameroon become Christians as a result of their contact with the Norwegian missionaries?" The missionaries were sent by the Norwegian Missionary Society.
Ifølge avhandlingens resymé stiller avhandlingen "det enkle, men samtidig vanskelige spørsmålet: Hvorfor ble en stor del av dii-befolkningen i Nord-Kamerun kristne som følge av møtet med de norske misjonærene?" Disse misjonærene var utsendinger fra Det Norske Misjonsselskap.
