Teacher from Tombontsoa visits the Mission Archives

Rakotonoely Desiré has been a teacher at the agricultural training center at Tombontsoa, near Antsirabe, Madagascar, since 1966. Read more about today's visit.

Rakotonoely Desiré has come to Norway with his wife, Odette, and a grandson, Razakamahefa Fitia Bradley. Their hosts, Ingrid and Arne Dragsund, also joined the tour of the Mission Archives.

A special feature is that Rakotonoely Desiré is portrayed on the front cover of the book "Guds høstfolk" (see our presentation of this book), together with Leif Robert Hansen. Arne Dragsund took the photo in 1975, in a wheat field in Betafo, near Antsirabe.

The visitors were introduced to the background and history of the Mission Archives, and they were shown the reading room and some examples of archival collections and material, with special focus on documents from Madagascar.
