New journal on the Bible and Africa
Proceeding from the observation that African biblical studies is developing with regard to exegesis as well as hermeneutics, the milieu behind Sapientia Logos: A Journal of Biblical Research & Interpretation in Africa (ISSN: 2006-6198) aims to create a new forum for scholarly interaction, located inAfrica but with a global focus.
The new journal is edited by Dr Randee O. Ijatuyi Morphé (a New Testament scholar known for his studies in Acts), and the editorial board includes Diana Edelman (UK), David J.K. Ekem (Ghana), Paul Ellingworth (Scotland), Craig A. Evans (Canada), Theodore Hiebert (USA), Andrew O. Igenoza (Nigeria/UK), Jeremy Punt (South Africa), Kenton L. Sparks (USA), and Cephas T.A. Tushima (Nigeria).
The first issue of the new journal came out in October 2008, and two issues - of approximately 200 pp. - will be published each year (October and May). The first issue includes the following articles:
- Iain Provan and Loren Wilkinson: 'Unscripted, anxious stutterers: Why we need Old Testament (hi)story'
- R.O. Ijatuyi Morphé: 'Name and person in biblical antiquity: Framing a "cohesive context" of interpretation'
- Kenton L. Sparks: 'The egalitarian spirit in biblical law'
- R.O. Ijatuyi Morphé: 'Saul and Paul: Apropos emergent issues in pauline studies'
The special individual rate (for the first inaugural issue only) is =N 2000 within Nigeria and US$ 20 outside Nigeria. For further information, please contact the General Editor, Dr Randee O. Ijatuyi Morphé: hh_cbrp@yahoo.co.uk
