International exchange
Why study abroad? Ask anyone who has studied or worked in different parts of the world,- few wish to be without this experience. Studying abroad offers you possibilities for seeing the world differently, for learning new languages and getting to know other cultures; furthermore, it may give you new perspectives on the subject you are studying, and provide you with an international network.
International scholarly collaboration is essential for an institution which throughout its entire history has focused on global ministry. The School of Mission and Theology (MHS) received its first African students already in the 1860s, and today the MHS boasts a broad international network with possibilities for exchange to and from universities and faculties on five continents.
The international collaboration is subject to both multilateral agreements of networks with several participants, and bilateral agreements between the MHS and one other institution. The collaboration seeks to:
- promote exchange of students and academic staff
- promote research collaboration
- promote collaboration of institutional development
The vision of the MHS is to be a global node with many international students, but we also want to be an institution which gives our own students a flavour for the world. Therefore we both welcome incoming international students, and we encourage our own students to study abroad for a period.
Have a nice trip!

MHS has many nice people around who will guide you through what is going on if you look lost. I like the Lunch time, even if I don‘t eat we just meet at the cafeteria and talk. The international student community is amazing. We have grown together like a big family. I feel like I get to know countries and cultures all over the world, and not just beautiful Norway.
