Professor Magnar Kartveit has written a new book entitled Rejoice, Dear Zion! In this forthcoming publication he discusses the phrase "Daughter of Zion" from a linguistic point of view, using methaphor theory and irony as tools. The book will be published by de Gruyter, june 2013.
Professor Knut Alfsvåg's article "Luthersk spiritualitet: Om lære og liv i den éne, kristne kirke" has been published in Dansk tidsskrift for teologi og kirke.
From April 29 to May 7 guest professor Dr. Daniel Stein Kokin will visit the School of Mission and Theology to teach the course "Introduction to Rabbinic Judaism".
Frank Ole Thoresen – Lecturer in Missiology, Fjellhaug International University College - has defended his PhD thesis in a public disputation on August 30.
Rev Ruben Ngozo - lecturer in New Testament studies, Lutheran Institute of Theology, Meiganga, Cameroon - defended his PhD thesis in a public disputation on August 24.
The School of Mission and Theology marks the opening of a new academic year by a ceremony in the Aula on the 15th of August 11 AM. There will also be an opening service in Kampen church at 10 AM. All students are welcome!

The Danish professor in Systematic Theology, Niels Henrik Gregersen, University of Copenhagen, will visit MHS on March 8-9, participating at a seminar for PhD students.
The School of Mission and Theology (MHS) marks the opening of a new semester with a ceremony in the Aula on the 12th of January at 12:00 AM. Speeches will be given by Rector Bård Mæland and also by leaders of the Student Board. Bishop Ingeborg Midttømme, from the Diocese of Møre, is visiting the School and will on the occasion greet both students and teachers. Students who fullfilled their degrees in the fall semester of 2011 will at the ceremony receive their diplomas.
Lectures and devotions will commmence already on Monday 9 January.
The MHS School of Mission and Theology hereby announces one PhD fellowship in theology. The fellowship is expected to focus on migrant churches/congregations in Norwegian (or European) contexts. Deadline for applications is April 15, 2012.
The studies at MHS have been very useful. In my present job at the Police office in Stavanger I daily meet people from different parts of the world. I took both a bachelor and a master degree at MHS. I feel that my background has helped me a lot in my job in the Police.
